Photographer Tracks Down People After Nearly 40 Years To Recreate Their Photos

Have you ever taken a look at an old photo album and imagined how great it would be to recreate it after so much time had passed? Time treats us all differently, and it's interesting to see how time has affected people that we know and love.
One photographer had the chance to track how people in his home city of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire have changed over nearly 40 years. Paramedic and photographer Chris Porsz spent countless hours taking photos back in the early '80s around his neighborhood and tried for seven years to get people in his old photographs to pose again for his new ones. The results are quite stunning!

1. Some local "punks" hanging out in Cathedral Square in Peterborough ('70s).

Look at them now!

John, on the far left, still lives in Peterborough. He's a painter and plays in a band with Ade (middle).

2. A couple, Tony and Sally Wilmot, having a tender moment at the train station in 1980.
The couple went on to get married and have two children, and they didn't even know that this picture had been taken until they were contacted by Chris recently.

3. Pictured here is Jennifer Hall, who worked at a local fruit and vegetable stall at Peterborough Market.

"I think I was about 17 when Chris took my photo. I was aware that someone was taking my picture at the time but I wasn’t sure who or what it was for," said Jennifer.
Now married with two children, Jennifer works as a civil servant.

4. Three sisters sitting in the window behind the curtain on Cromwell Road.
One sister, Shehnaz (seen on far left), said, "We often used to perch in the window and watch what was going on in the road."
These three sisters haven't moved from the town.
Between the three sisters, they have 12 children now.

5. Here are five boys running joyfully down the city street to the local chip shop.

Here are most of the boys all grown up now!
The man in the foremost part of the photograph, Devinder Singh, moved away to Yorkshire shortly after the original photograph and is married with two boys.

6. Sisters Anna (11) and Emma Hankins (13) hanging out blowing some bubbles in 1980.

Both sisters went on to become hairdressers and are married with families now.

7. A group of friends sitting together.
Here they are for a reunion.
Juliette, who was originally pictured on the far right, sadly passed away and is replaced by her sister Alison.

8. Punks Tina Tarr and partner Dog at about 18 years old.

While they no longer live together, the couple had twins and left the city in the '90s to travel.
When reflecting on the photo, Tina said, "I remember the photo being taken, it was a brilliant time. I had various styles of punk hair for quite a few years."If you're interested in seeing more of the collection, you can visit Chris Porsz's website.SHARE this article on Facebook with your Facebook friends!
